How long does a kitchen installation take?

When you start your new kitchen journey, you will have lots of questions about the process itself. We've got all the information you need to put your mind at rest.

In our latest blog, we take a look at the process of having a new kitchen fitted, from the design and delivery to the installation of your brand-new kitchen.

At BCK Interiors, we pride ourselves on delivering tailor-made solutions to meet your needs and lifestyle. Our seamless process ensures that having a new kitchen is stress-free at every step, from the minute we meet to when you're sitting in your new kitchen enjoying a coffee.

We know you have questions, so here is some helpful information as you begin your journey to your dream design...

Kitchen Design Consultation

Once you arrange a design consultation with us, we will discuss what you want from your new kitchen in terms of practicality, storage, appliances, surfaces, finishes, colours and style. The design process itself takes as long as it needs to in order to create the ultimate kitchen for you and your home.

Sometimes, this can be finalised in one meeting, but more often than not, it will be spread across two or three consultations. The first meeting or two will focus on the design and what is to be included, while the third will concentrate on colours and finishing touches.

We want to ensure you are completely happy with our design before proceeding, so don't worry about taking your time. We will work with you until you are 100% satisfied with the finished design.

Showroom Visit

Our design process starts with you coming into our showroom so we can talk you through the kitchen collections and products we have available. We'll look at your plans or photos of the existing space and show you any recently completed projects that are similar in shape and size so you can get a feel for what we can do and the sort of price it would cost if you chose similar products and materials.

Evaluating Your Kitchen Layout and Space

Next, we'll focus on your space and discuss some initial thoughts about layout and design. If we're looking to design for an existing room, we'll book a site visit so we can measure up. If the kitchen is for a new extension and you have the architect's plans with you, we can chat about the style, colour, finish and appliances you have in mind.

Once we have all the information we need, we'll work on the design, which will take around two weeks. We'll either book you in for a second appointment or give you a call once the design is ready so you can come in at a date and time that suits you.

Ordering Your Appliances

Current lead times for delivery are six to eight weeks, but this can change throughout the year, depending on demand. German kitchen companies close their factories for three weeks in the summer, adding an additional three weeks to the lead time if you're having a German design around the same time.

Before we can place your kitchen order, we will do a site survey to ensure that everything fits perfectly. We'll carry this out as soon as possible in an existing space and will wait until the area is ready for us if it's for a new extension. We would require the walls and any steels to be fully in position before we carry out our survey.

Kitchen Installation

Our team of expert kitchen fitters are highly skilled and experienced in the installation of our luxury kitchens. They will work quickly, efficiently, cleanly and professionally to ensure your kitchen is installed to the highest standard with minimal disruption to you and your home.

It usually takes three weeks from start to finish. This includes around five days to dry fit and seven to ten days from worktop templating to installation. We then return for a day or two after the worktop has been installed to finish any last details and to connect your oven, hob, sink, and tap.

It's a good idea to have a cooking station in place while the work is being carried out, either by having a microwave and portable hob in another room or asking family and friends if they can cook for you while your kitchen is out of action. Within just a few weeks, your brand-new kitchen will be ready to use and enjoy for years to come.
